We were partners on the Visual Assistant project, a system for highlighting the contours of objects and manipulating the contrast and other properties of objects that a visually impaired person observes. It allows better perception of scenes in pictures and videos, as well as better perception of the surroundings in which the person moves. It performs image manipulation in the sense of concentrating information to the centre in the case of peripheral vision deficits, and vice versa, concentrating the image to the periphery in the case of central vision deficits.
